Muslims are obligated to pray 5 times a day towards Mecca. However, the Qur'an does not mention 5 daily prayers, but mentions only 3 explicitly by name and in separate occasions only mentions 3 prayers (11:114, 17:78-79) instead of 5. We will learn that Muslims practice is influenced by many contemporary religions and traditions of the time.
