The close or rootless voicings we use for a minor II V I are quite complicated, and may even sound harsh at first, but they are actually very common, and used by jazz piano players all the time!
When I first practiced them it took me a while to "see" the shapes, but the moment I knew them by heart, I noticed that there are only 2 shapes! 2 voicings we can use to play the entire minor II V I progression!
