Jeeve Kadgi Phodi is a dry fry dish usually relished as meal accompaniment. Jeeve Kadgi is also known as Sheema Chakka in Malayalam. A rich source of potassium, calcium and other minerals, Jeeve kadgi peel is also used to make fry or upkari.
The ingredients needed for Phodi are
Jeeve kadgi – 1 Peeled and cut into slices of 1 -1/2 inches thickness
Red chilli powder – 2 table spoons
Rice powder – 2 to 3 teaspoons
Asafoetida powder- 2 teaspoons
Salt – to taste
Oil for frying
Peel and cut the jeeve kadgi into slices of 1 –1 ½ inches thickness. Marinate using chilli powder , rice powder , asafoetida and salt and set it aside for 10 to 15 minutes. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the slices . Flip it and make sure that kadgi is cooked well inside. Hot, crunchy , spicy and tasty phodi is ready. Enjoy this with rice and daali.
