That's the way we do it ...
Our foals are raised on pasture and not handled. When we need to pull blood for coggins tests we make it as safe and stress-free as possible for them. The setup is a panel with safety mats attached, and while the dam stands on one side, the weanling is coaxed between the panel and a solid wall. We can work 10 weanlings, including the time to halter the mare and bring the pair back to the "we are done!" holding pen, in an hour easily this way.
