A quick 20 minute bus ride from Amsterdam Central Station, and you will be in the charming village of Volendam. These villages are worth the day trip from Amsterdam.

We stayed in a modern houseboat Airbnb in the town's marina and wandered around the winding streets of Doolhof.

We hopped on a quick ferry ride on the Volendam Marken Express over to Marken and it was just as charming if not more.

We felt like we saw a side of the Netherlands that you don't get being in the city and wished we had more time in the country. Stay tuned for country #29 coming up next!
