Hi my name is Chiara and I’m an Italian from Verona
I’m studying at Les Roches in Switzerland
I’m a global bachelor student in my 5th semester
I chose this program because I like to travel
When I saw that there was the possibility to study in 3 different countries in such a short time
I thought this was a unique opportunity
Switzerland, China, Spain
and then because I liked the idea to be able to do
a practical part in the first semester, together with a theoretical part
and I think this is really a special opportunity.
I chose to come to Les Roches here in Switzerland because
after having visited the campus with a friend
I absolutely fell in love with this place
and because I like to be able to deal with people
I like working with other students coming from different cultures and nationalities, I think we have a lot to learn from each other
The courses I like the most are for sure F&B management
rooms division management, human resources and revenue & pricing management
but my favourite is definitely hospitality marketing because in the future I’d like to be able to work in the field of consulting and project management
The key learning I took away so far from Les Roches is surely the importance of knowing how to work in a team
However, the thing I’ll always remember is probably something my teacher told me one day :
He asked me what the responsibilities of a manager were,
and his answer was : anything that needs to be done.
In my spare time, I partake to some activities organized by the school, for example we play badminton or tennis, we go climbing in Crans-Montana.
When the weather is good, in summer, when there’s no snow, we go for walks on the mountains,
or during weekends, we travel a bit with my classmates.
I really like to study at Les Roches, I think I made the right decision and wouldn’t change it for anything
especially because I live in such an international campus, I think that’s really the added value of this school.
The best moment so far this semester, was a couple of months back
when I received an email saying I was accepted for a Project management Internship that I will start in January.
It was an unforgettable moment, I even started crying because
to receive such an offer for a job with such “high” responsibilities for a second internship,
is really something I am proud of and I can’t wait to start.
My biggest challenge at Les Roches was when I went to study at the Shanghai campus
because it was a big cultural shock for me.
To come from Europe and move to China was really not a small step,
but once I adapted, I managed to enjoy the Chinese culture and life,
it was an amazing experience.
I would recommend Les Roches first of all because we are a school absolutely international.
We use a lot of technology; we are innovative and that’s very important
in today’s world, especially in the world of hospitality.
Finally, because it’s a school that gives value to the people. You’re not just a number, and that’s something to be really proud of.
