One of the toughest material found in nature is tungsten. Tugnsten, also know as wolfram, is a rare metal found naturally on Earth almost exclusively as compounds with other elements.
Its toughness is partly the result of it being super dense; in addition to being hard, making it nearly impossible to melt. Tungsten (W) has the highest melting point of any other metal in pure form rated at 3422 C (6192 F). To give you some perspective: melting point for gold is 1063 C, iron 1538 C, and titanium 1668 C.
Here a 1000 A TIG welding was used to melt pure tungsten - a process that creates immense heat and bright light. By using CAVILUX Laser Illumination you can see the process in great detail as if the heat and light don't exist at all.
