WORLD'S LARGEST FLOWER BLOOMS, SMELLS LIKE DEAD MEAT: The Amorphophallus titanum, the world’s largest flower, is in the process of blooming at the Meise Botanic Garden in Belgium. The flower was ‘discovered’ in 1878 by an Italian botanist in the rainforests of Sumatra. The Meise Botanic Garden says the flower requires a high level of humidity and a constant heat of at least 75°F to thrive. The flowering, which happens sporadically every three years, only lasts about 72 hours. It is said to ‘stink like dead meat’ while flowering.
