Three sets of strings compared. Note that Emuzin and Thomastik sets are approx. 3~4 months old. Pyramids are only 2 days of use.
I would say that the biggest difference between these sets are in the feeling and sensation under the fingers. The Emuzin and Thomastik are really smooth strings by touch, Emuzin being stiffer by different caliber of the bass strings.
Pyramids are not so smooth and it can be divisive. For one, it’s a good thing for playing solo pieces with fingers - it provides some “grip” to the bass strings. But for those who are accustomed to traditional jazz flatwounds this roughness can be quite unusual.
All 3 sets sounds noticeably different unplugged. But I think that via amplification it’s not so big of a difference. Any set is perfectly useable to my taste.
Signal chain: guitar - HXstomp (Fender Twin emulation, compressor, reverb).
