The DPP Campaign Committee will convene on Wednesday to decide it says once and for all whether to field a candidate for the Taipei mayoral race. Some believe the party chair, President Tsai Ing-wen, would prefer to leave the field open for sitting mayor Ko Wen-je. In an interview today, she declined to comment, but nonetheless stated that there would be very little chance of Lai Ching-te or Chen Chu being nominated.Meanwhile reports claim that the KMT''s candidate, Ting Shou-chung, has beaten Ko Wen-je in a poll held within the DPP. Legislator Yao Wen-chih , who hopes to gain the DPP''s nomination, has condemned the proliferation of the Taipei mayoral polls, saying their aim is to prevent the DPP from putting forward its own candidate.
