Vietnam faced one of its worst dengue outbreaks in 2022, leaving hospitals overcrowded and patients sharing beds. But what if we could predict dengue outbreaks before they happen?

E-DENGUE, a new digital tool we're funding, could make this a reality. Developed by Dr Dung Phung and his team at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, the tool is tailored to the Mekong Delta region in Vietnam – one of the areas most affected by dengue.

It could predict outbreaks in the area up to two months in advance, with the potential to save lives and protect limited resources.
