The Word says obedience is better than sacrifice, but what does that mean? “So Samuel said: ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice…’”—1 Samuel 15:22
How are we to obey during times of testing?
Right now, we are in the Hebrew month of Av. In Hebraic understanding, the month contains a 3-week time of testing, also known as the Dire Straits. The question moves from how you obey during times of testing to whether you believe Father God at the edge of the Promised Land.
The Hebrew word “Av” means “father.” Often, Jews add the name “Menachem” to Av when reflecting on this month because “Menachem” means “Comforter.” You need to Comforter, the HOly Spirit, to guide you through the times of testing, the Dire Straits season.
