Speaker biography
This year’s Global Economy Lecture will be delivered by Sergei Guriev, Professor of Economics and Provost at Sciences Po in Paris and former chief economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Before that (2004-2013) he was rector of the New Economic School in Moscow. Sergei Guriev’s research interests include contract theory, corporate governance, political economics and labor mobility. He has published numerous articles in international refereed journals. Recently he published the book “Spin Dictators” together with Daniel Treisman (Princeton University Press, 2022).
Professor Guriev will discuss the causes of Vladimir Putin’s invasion in Ukraine as well as its consequences for Ukraine, Russia, Europe and the rest of the world.
