00:00 Hello my friends.
00:05 In this modelling project I am experimenting in "repurposing" an old electric hair cutter/trimmer and an old iPhone into a Military Robot. Or perhaps as one may imagine a Mecha or a Transformer or something along those lines.
01:53 The following project is inspired by real and imaginary events.
02:26 For now will leave this part to the side. Taking apart the electric cutter/trimmer.
02:35 Oh shoot! 😱
02:37 Need to clean first. Be right back 😉
02:41 Cleaned these parts and leaving them to the side.
02:46 Continuing taking apart.
02:52 ATTENTION! Keep always in mind that after gluing, painting, etc to let things dry.
03:24 These are all the pieces. Because they aren't that many, I will add some leftovers from toys and other electric devices.
03:31 However, as I promised at the start of this video, besides the electric cutter/trimmer, I will use this old damaged iPhone. Or to be more specific as many of its parts as possible.
03:43 Because I don't have an iPhone repair kit or any other tools made for iPhones I will have to improvise. A LOT 🤣
03:51 Go Hobby Knife. Go Hobby Knife. Go! 😊
04:29 Trash/recycling material ♻
04:32 The disassemble continues.
05:24 These are the parts that I kept and that I will use for my project.
05:28 Sawing.
05:40 Used my rotary tool to speed up the process 😉
05:43 Smoothing things out.
05:49 These are ready.
05:51 Gluing.
06:28 This switch here turns on these lights. Testing. Passed 😊
06:37 Super gluing these pieces in order to combine the two different modules.
07:04 Combining.
07:19 Another switch. Another light. Testing. Passed 😊
07:27 More gluing.
07:43 Torso moves along nicely.
07:58 These pieces I had cut from the cutter/trimmer's base. Combining with the camera module.
08:30 Improving the head by adding more pieces like so.
10:45 Added this part off camera. Attaching the head to the torso.
10:55 Rotary tool and going to work to get some pieces for the arms.
11:15 Attaching the shoulder part.
11:39 Gluing a capacitor and few other parts on the arm part that I already had prepared off camera.
12:09 Keep assembling the arm.
12:28 Off camera made this hand. Attaching.
12:45 Left shoulder done off camera. Making the arm.
13:20 Using these transistors and this Lego piece that I have "stolen" from my son, keep making the arm.
13:54 However, this arm isn't a simple arm with a hand and fingers. Oh no. This is an arm cannon 🤘
14:05 Added few details, off camera. Adding this targeting camera. Can't you see that I am having a blast? 🤣
14:26 Prepared the legs/hip joints off camera. Gluing these pads.
14:39 Off camera did some leg work 🤣
14:44 Making the knee parts on and off camera.
14:49 Made a hip change and prepared these parts. Gluing.
15:28 Used the cutter/trimmer's blade and few other parts and completed the right leg. Onto the left one using the limit comb of the hair cutter/trimmer.
15:39 This one certainly didn't skip the leg work 🤣
15:51 Attaching more pieces to legs and arms.
17:02 The limit comb's leftovers are the robot's weapon blades!
17:17 Adding more parts.
18:38 On the shoulder pad I attached a small piece that will be the basis for the lights.
18:54 Placing this camera part as well as another little piece.
19:12 Found these two pieces in leftovers that I had from various projects and I quite like them. Super gluing.
19:36 Repeating the same with other pieces.
21:32 Metallic silver painting.
22:01 Metallic gray.
22:39 Off camera did some black wash here and there. Attaching the arms.
22:48 Keep in mind that this experiment started with an old electric cutter/trimmer and iPhone without any planning. It was an "on the fly" thing so to speak.
23:00 Hopefully you liked the project and you will enjoy the presentation. Since I am a new to this amazing art, please do share your words of wisdom in the comments below.
