The French capital may be known as the city of lights, but for many who live here it’s also the city of "embouteillages", or traffic jams. And that's nothing new. Cars first became an integral part of the Parisian landscape in the 1920s and 30s, with the explosion of private car ownership. According to the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, it’s now time to "reconquer the public space" for pedestrian and cyclists. We take a closer look at her ambitious plans.
