Thought I'd share a few picture profile tests I've done on Day 1 of owning the new Nikon D850. The profiles in the video are the more likely ones to be used when shooting predominately people, so does not include landscape in this video.
My first impressions are that the results are VERY impressive!
Apologies for some pretty nasty auto focus hunting in the intro @ the 00:58sec mark - was shooting this solo, wanted predominately sharp focus, so shot it in continuous auto focus with face detect on.. certainly less than ideal! There are some AF settings that need to be trialed to see if this improves the continuous AF.. "Focus tracking with lock-on" has 2 setting options: 1. "Blocked shot AF response" & 2. "Subject Motion"
The camera settings are listed in the video, but essentially are as follows:
Nikon D850
85mm F1.4 lens @ F2.2 (opening shots at F2.0 and in "Auto" picture profile)
Shutter speed 1/50 sec
ISO 100
Movie settings: 4k at 24fps
Lighting: All natural - window light
Post production - None! no adjustments at all in post - apart from audio and titles of course
In camera profiles were at factory settings - no adjustments to contrast, sharpness, saturation, noise reduction etc.
Profiles Tested: Auto (new nikon profile, haven't seen that one before?), Portrait, Neutral, Standard and Flat.. "Auto" was used for the introduction as well..
