If ghosts aren’t real, then what do we actually know about what happens when you die? We know for sure that our energy isn’t destroyed but it doesn’t exactly turn into a ghost. And if there’s a world where our consciousness can live on after death, it’s probably going to be through a computer.

A doctor named Duncan MacDougall wanted to see if he could calculate the weight of the soul by convincing people on their deathbed to die on a bed that was put on a giant scale. After some death and some calculations to account for fluid loss and the like, Doctor MacDougall concluded that the mass of the human soul was all of 21 grams.
This experiment is so historically bad that there aren’t even that many articles talking about it. But as famous as the experiment’s results are, the findings were met with immediate dissatisfaction by other scientists. And have yet to be replicated, which is a big thing in the scientific community.
There was a guy who tried to replicate this back in 2001 with sheep and goats, and some actually measured weight gain before they died.
At the moment of death an unexplained weight gain transient of 18 to 780 grams for 1 to 6 seconds was observed with seven adult sheep but not with the lambs or goat.
How cool is science?

If ghosts were real, Brian Cox claims CERN would have found them by now
"If we want some sort of pattern that carries information about our living cells to persist, then we must specify precisely what medium carries that pattern, and how it interacts with the matter particles out of which our bodies are made.”

Awareness during resuscitation—a prospective study
“Cardiac arrest survivors commonly experience a broad range of cognitive themes, with 2% exhibiting full awareness. This supports other recent studies that have indicated consciousness may be present despite clinically undetectable consciousness. This together with fearful experiences may contribute to PTSD and other cognitive deficits post CA.”

Beyond Death: The Science of the Afterlife
“Andrew Newberg is a neuroscientist and professor at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital and has made his reputation studying the brain scans of religious people (nuns and monks) who have ecstatic experiences as they meditate. He believes the ‘tunnel’ and the ‘light’ that NDE-ers so frequently describe can be easily explained. As your eyesight fades, you lose the peripheral areas first, he points out. ‘That’s why you’d have a tunnel sensation.’”
