Our tourist visa to Uzbekistan only allowed us to stay for 30 days, so we spent in Tashkent and Samarkand. To get from the capital to this historic and cultural city, we 'splurged' and took the high-speed train instead of hitchhiking. July in Uzbekistan is no joke regarding the temperatures. And the price/quality of the Afrosiyob train is really hard to beat even if you're on a tight budget. And it's airconditioned 💕

What's really cool is that this train passes the Tajik border really closely at some point. Back in July 2021, Tajikistan was about to reopen for tourism, but it came too late for us and we flew from Uzbekistan to Ukraine instead.
