The basic STCW's are what anybody will need to work aboard ships. The basic ones include basic fire fighting, elementary first aid, social responsibilities, water survival, and basic safety training. These standards change as the years go. There could be even more of these basic classes needed now. There is more basic STCW certifications not needed as well. Do your own research into what you'll need for what types of ships you'll be going on.
