Award-winning publisher and NJ poet David Messineo - as of 2015, among the 35 longest-serving poetry editors and independent literary magazine publishers still active in America - debuted the Second Edition of Historiopticon (available for purchase at www.blurb.com) on Saturday evening, February 8, 2014, 7pm, as part of the almost-monthly North Jersey Literary Series (NJLS) in Teaneck, NJ. The NJLS, hosted by Paul Nash and Denise La Neve, is #50 in David's published 2015 list of the 50 longest continually operating poetry reading series in America - a fact that David publicly acknowledges in this video clip. Before the start of his second set, David shifted gears and discussed some of the then 27-year history of Sensations Magazine, and what he'd been working on during his public absence from the NJ poetry scene. He was immersed at the time in creating a full detailed Index of the entire run of Sensations Magazine - individually indexing every poem, story, piece of artwork, first lines of every poem and story every published (in alphabetical order) over an intense 4-month period. Also during this time, he researched and created a series of Appendices published in the same bound document as the Index: the 50 longest-lasting poetry reading series still active in America being one of several subjects analyzed. Four of these series are in New Jersey - David's own "Sensations Magazine Creative Events Series" clocks in at #22. And he ends with an amusing statement that shows, after 27 years, some things never change. Anyone interested in the background of some of what a literary magazine publisher deals with is advised to watch this clip.
