Prime Minister Hon. James Marape says the electoral process must be reformed by Government as a matter of priority, given the problems highlighted in the 2022 General Election.
He said this in his Inaugural Address to The National after being elected unopposed as Prime Minister on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
PM Marape said the Government Caucus has agreed that reformation of the electoral process must be done before Papua New Guinea celebrates 50 years of Independence in 2025.
He also assured the country that a National Census would be conducted at the earliest in 2023.
PM Marape also said the views of the people would be sought on whether the Prime Minister should be elected directly by them.
