Tenerife Amazing Masca Gorge Valley Trek June 2015 Barranco de Masca
1. How do we get there?
Drive to Los Gigantes.
Car park in the marina for a fee or arrive early and park on the streets. Aim to arrive for 10am
2. Book your return boot trip.
Lots of boats companies around, we opted for mascaexpress.com aka flipper Uno have used them a number of times and are both punctual reliable and offer friendly service.
There offices sign posted as Flipper Uno are located adjacent to the Marina car park entrance barrier. Book the 16:30 return service offers ample time for the hike, photos, breaks, lunch and a leisurely swim
3. Getting to Masca Village from Los Gigantes Marina
Taxi's are normally waiting outside the Marina or speak to Mascaexpress Flipper Uno staff who will call one
Average journey time 30 - 45min cost 25 to 28 Euros..
Dont forget to hold on tight its gonna be a rollercoaster of a journey. If you arrive safely then please do tip your driver as he sure does deserve it...
4. How long is the hike down..
Approx 4 hours on a nice gentle relaxed pace allowing time to take ample photos, breaks and a stop for lunch.
Please do not rush, this is not a competition, time trial or an endurance test.
Soak in the sun and absorb the breathtaking sights and sounds
5. What to take..
Ankle supported hiking boots,
please Do Not attempt this hike in flip flops. Water min 1.5l, sun cream, walking pole one is fine, snacks, camera and loose change to buy yourself a beer once you reach the beachfront. If your planning on taking a dip then take a small towel and change of cloths.
