The Kinmen islands in Taiwan are the closest you can get to mainland China. I visited the Kinmen islands this winter to and put together this short Kinmen travel series to provide an insight into the Kinmen islands, as well as a Kinmen travel guide showing you the best and off-the-beaten-path places you can't miss during your Kinmen island trip.

I was also lucky enough to visit at the start of 2023, which means I got to experience the new famous bridge in Kinmen connecting Kinmen island to Little Kinmen! Running over it was such an experience. Plus, it doesn't even show up on Google Maps yet!
