Mobile hunting and public land hunting often times get used interchangeably. And for whatever reason, the public land hunter is usually placed on a pedestal.
Personally, I have always hunted public land. Not because I think this is more prestigious, but because I didn't have any other options. I love the public land game, but I wouldn't say I'm a strict "public land hunter."
I'm an opportunist.
If the public pieces aren't producing I start knocking on doors. And you better be damn sure that if I get the opportunity to hunt a pristine piece of private, that's where you'll find me if it makes the most sense.
In this episode, this is exactly how things played out. The public piece we were hunting got blown out so we knocked on some doors. And thank god we did because Drock and I got to have an encounter with the biggest buck we've ever seen from the tree.
