NOTE: If filing under employment-based or family-sponsored preference, your priority date must be Current ("C") for Final Action to request an expedited interview.
Sample Email Request to NVCExpedite@state.gov:
Dear Officer,
Hope you are well.
My name is _____________, and I am the U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident [relationship] and petitioner of the principal applicant, _____________. We respectfully request expedited scheduling of their immigrant visa (IV) interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines due to urgent financial, medical, and humanitarian reasons concerning our family.
[Applicant’s] case has been pending with NVC as DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED since [date]. I urgently need [Applicant] here in the United States to [help take care of my young U.S. Citizen children - as the primary caretaker, I have been unable to work and support my spouse with household expenses, which has caused significant financial hardship to our family. With [the applicant] in the United States, I will be able to resume work, and my income would be a tremendous help (and relief) to our household, especially since living in California as a family is expensive and necessitates dual income.]
Additionally, [Applicant] suffers from [health conditions] for which they take various medications. Unfortunately, [Applicant] is not receiving proper medical care in the Philippines because they cannot afford the high costs of healthcare there. With [Applicant] in the United States, they can receive proper medical care and treatment because I can help her obtain health insurance when I become employed again.
Our family needs [Applicant] in the United States with us so that we can take care of [Applicant], and they can help support our family, which we urgently need. We have been waiting for many years for [Applicant] to receive their visa and for us to be reunited. Our family would greatly appreciate your assistance in facilitating this process.
In support of this request for expedited scheduling of [Applicant’s] IV interview, please find attached [any available supporting docs - medical records, proof of expenses/bills, etc.]. If you have any questions or require additional information, feel free to contact us via email at _____________ phone at _____________.
Thank you for your time and kind consideration.

Hi, and welcome to The Immigrant Lawyer. My name is Lia, and I'm an immigrant turned immigrants' rights advocate with a passion for mindful movement.
Mindful movement, in my life, means migration + mobility.
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another, with the intention of settling at a new location. As an immigration attorney licensed and practicing in California, I've worked with families, asylum seekers, survivors of crime and violence from all over the world and currently advise a Fortune 100 tech company on strategies for U.S. immigration & global mobility.
Mobility is the ability to move freely, which I like to do by teaching and practicing yoga-Pilates-HIIT.
The Immigrant Lawyer is my offering to our community of movers and doers. Join me here for Mobility Monday as we dive into U.S. immigration processes and policies and for Friday Flow to unwind our mind and body with some stretching, cardio, and flexibility together.
Thank you for tuning in. Til next time ~
