When Fern receives a message request on Facebook, she doesn't think anything of it. Jake seemed like a pretty normal guy from messaging him for a few days so she didn't think anything of organising to meet up.
We have adapted a true story into a 'choose your own ending' story. Discover what might happen to Fern depending what choices she makes.

Fern's story is a true story from the Humber area and follows very closely the real events that happened to a real teenager.

It is best not to meet up with a person if you do not know them beyond messaging/photos/video chat online.
If you or someone you know is considering meeting up with someone you've only spoken to online, make sure to meet them in a public place (like a town centre or something) with a friend. Tell a trusted adult or friend where you'll be meeting, where you might be going and when you'll be home, and it's best to keep them updated if anything changes.
If you don't feel right about the person you're meeting, don't meet them. If something doesn't feel right once you've met up with them, you can walk away, call a trusted adult and go home. Don't be pressured into doing anything or going anywhere you're uncomfortable with.
Remember if you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 999. If you have concerns or suspicions you can call the local police on 101.
You can also speak to a trusted adult if you are concerned or unsure about your or someone else's situation.
It's not ok for someone to expect you or your friends to do things you don't; want to. Listen to your instinct; if it doesn't feel right - tell someone.
