Dear Viewers,
The Tibetan Plateau is bounded by the Kunlun Mountain range in the north and forested valleys in the east and south-east. The vast Himalayan range extends to its south and the Karakoram range extends to the west. Its total area is 25 lakh square kilometres. It is also called the ‘third pole’ of the world. This is because the largest reserves of fresh water outside the Arctic polar regions in the north and Antarctic in the south are found here.
