Hi Squash Friends, hope you're all doing okay.
In honour of Jonah Barrington's 80th birthday today, I'm releasing a fun JAV (Jimbo Archive Video) that I made a few years back to promote squash at the club.
When was that magical moment for you when you fell under the spell of our great game of squash? Comment below if you like. Even the badminto pro Mike de Belle couldn't fight it!
Btw, for those interested in some of the great history of squash, Jamie Maddox out of the UK runs a really cool facebook page called Squash Stories. Join up as you won't be disappointed. You will get hooked!
This week in honour of Jonah's birthday, he's highlighting the 1972 British Open where Jonah beat Geoff Hunt in an amazing final.
I believe Jonah was the most instrumental man in the history of our game taking squash from amateur to professional status and starting the great UK boom back in the day.
Great character indeed!
Interesting side note is that our dear friend Tony Swift played that year and narrowly lost in the third round which is a very impressive result! Need to get Tony on one of my future shows as he's got some great stories!
