Ingredients:
• 454g flour
• 28g sugar
• 57g butter
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 1 teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 300ml milk
Step 0: Heat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7
Step 1: Rub the butter into the flour until it forms a consistency like breadcrumbs
Step 2: Mix in the sugar, salt, and cream of tartar
Step 3: Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda into the milk and stir into the flour
Step 4: Mix into a smooth dough
Step 5: Knead lightly to form a round cake (about 2.5cm deep)
Step 6: Use a cutter to make the scones, be careful not to twist them and place it on a greased baking sheet
Step 7: Put it in the oven for 10 min or unitil it's turning brown
Place the scones on a plate and serve it with some jam and clotted cream!
PS If you want to make your scones more shiny, brush them with an egg yolk (5min after you put them in the oven)
