Both lemons and limes have similar nutrients, BUT there are a few noticeable differences. Lemons contain more vitamin C and flavonoids, than limes. However, limes have Higher levels of niacin, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium than lemons. Limes also contain vitamin A, which lemons lack. And, Vitamin A is important for mucosal membranes, like the inside of your mouth, nose, GI tract, lungs; your bladder and urinary tract, vaginal lining, and the cornea. Although lemons may have more flavonoids than limes, this doesn’t mean that limes are a slacker in the antioxidant category. Limes contain many more antioxidants than just the flavonoid family. They are comprised of limonoids, kaempferol, ascorbic acid, phenolic acids, and quercetin. All of these are very powerful antioxidants that aid in protecting your peripheral nerves, brain, and spinal cord.
