The diplomatic discussion to break the political deadlock in the Ivory Coast has for the moment ended.
The leaders of Benin, Sierra Leone and Cape Verde met with incumbent president Laurent Gbagbo delivering an ultimatum to him to step down.
"All went well" was the brief comment from Benin's President Boni Yayi.
Now Gbagbo's government has announced it will sever ties with countries that recognised envoys named by presidential claimant Alassane Outtara. That is seen as a powerful sign he is not about to quit.
