Instead, it lets the public know you have a dog that can be a hazard.
Imagine you have a friend come over; before they come in, they see the sign and are alert, scared, and intimidated. All because of this "caution sign." Unless your dog is a guard dog, why put that person at risk and have your dog sense that fear? Let's go further and say they bit them; now you, as the owner with this sign, clearly knew your dog could be "dangerous."
Why not use a sign like "pets on premises," which give people less intimidation? It's up to us to keep our pets and others safe.
