Here is the train journey I took from Darlington back to York onboard a CrossCountry Class 221 Voyager.
Following the launch of the Class 805 ‘Evero’ IET’s, Avanti West Coast have slowly started to phase out their fleet of Voyagers. This unit, 221116 ‘City of Bangor’ has recently been acquired by CrossCountry after finishing duties with Avanti, so I gave myself the opportunity to take a ride on this unit.
I believe the majority of Avanti’s remaining Voyagers are to be handed over to CrossCountry as soon as all the 805’s & 807’s are in revenue earning service
We join 1V64 at Darlington which was working an Edinburgh to Plymouth service.
