▶ About this video: This video shows you how to stop WhatsApp's "Checking for new messages" notification in Android 8.0 (Oreo) and later.
On how to disable the related "You may have for new messages" notification, please check this other video: [ Ссылка ]
This notification usually appears when you're on a slow network or have poor internet connectivity. Typically, the notification lasts for a few seconds and disappears on its own.
In some instances it may persist for longer than usual, prompting you to clear it from the notification panel manually. To avoid doing this all the time you can disable it using Android's new notification categories as shown in the video.
Doing this will turn off the notification without affecting other normal WhatsApp's notifications for chats or calls.
A written tutorial is also available in my blog here: [ Ссылка ]
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Android 7 and below
Categorized notifications are not available in older versions and you may be forced to turn off all WhatsApp notifications just to disable this one (on Android 7.0 (Nougat).
Some workarounds you may want to try before blocking all WhatsApp notifications include:
• Ensure WhatsApp is not blocked from using Background Data (Android 7)
• Disable Restricting Background Data (Android 6.0 and below)
• Turn on off Data Saver temporarily or whitelist WhatsApp to have unrestricted data usage.
2. WhatsApp is using Battery Notification
After turning off this notification along with the "You may have for new messages" notification, Android may show a new notification alerting you WhatsApp is using battery.
You can disable this new notification as well as explained here: [ Ссылка ]
