The lighting controls with ZSA Planck EZ and Moonlander can be a bit confusing as there is a fairly elaborate hierarchy of which setting takes priority. In this quick video I hopefully manage to shed some light on how it all works.
Basically we have two controls to control how the board reacts. One is 'toggle lighting' and the other is 'toggle layer colors'. Toggle lighting enables and disables the full board effects that can then be cycled through using the manual controls. This lets you choose an effect and adjust its hue (if the effect supports multiple hues).
Then, each layer can have custom colors set up for each key in the configurator. If these are turned on with the 'toggle layer colors' key, they will override the whole-keyboard lighting as long as there are some keys with custom colors set up on a given layer. If no keys have custom colors on a given layer, that layer then will continue showing the whole-board lighting (in enabled with the 'toggle lighting' option).
It's quite a tricky concept to explain so hopefully the video helps!
