Cesar Cui (1835-1918) was a famous russian composer and musical criticist. He was one of the "Mighty Five" - group of composers who made the russian music well-known around the whole world. Unfortunately, Cui is less-known then other from the "Five". Since 1880s he also took part in Belyaev Circle's events.

This piano pieces are posthumous works, found in the composer's archive in 1950s and first published in 1954. They were composed probably in 1917-1918 during First World War, Great Russian Revolution and Russian Civil War and express all the feelings of the old, blind and suffering composer.

Цезарь Кюи (1835-1918) - знаменитый русский композитор и музыкальный критик, участник великой "Могучей кучки", правда, наименее известный из кучкистов. В 1880-е годы - также участник Беляевского кружка.

Три фортепианные пьесы - посмертные сочинения композитора, найденные в его архиве и опубликованные в 1954 году. Скорее всего, они были написаны в 1917-18 годах, во время революций, Первой мировой войны, Гражданской войны. Они в полной мере выражают все чувств старого слепого и страдающего композитора.
