Short physical chemistry lecture on reversible isothermal expansion and compression of ideal gases.
The temperature of a system remains constant during an isothermal process. For ideal gases, the internal energy only depends on temperature. Heat and work are equal and opposite in magnitude in reversible isothermal processes.
