Bayraktar Kızılelma

The pace at which Turkey’s Aerospace sector is making progress especially Baykar Tech. is commendable. The firm has developed Bayraktar TB2 that has been export success and had significant impact in Azerbaijan and Ukraine war. The firm has also developed Akıncı , a high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) UCAV. The Kizilelma is a very different category of UCAV – described as unmanned fighter aircraft. It will be a supersonic at later stage having high degree of stealth characteristics tailored for different missions along with manned fighter jets. This program resembles very close to HAL’s CATS warrior program.

If we look at the timeline of the development of Kizilelma, On 20th July 2021 the 1st design of the UCAV was unveiled. On 20 November 2022, the UCAV carried out its first Automatic Taxi and Running Test. On 3rd December 2022, the UCAV just flown above the runway for a very short time. The UCAV got airborne over the runway at the Akinci Flight Training and Test Center. From the video clip shared by the firm it seems that the UCAV was planned for the low flight trial.

On 14th December 2022, the UCAV took its maiden first flight at higher altitude impressing the whole world with the pace of development.

On 30th March 2023, the Bayraktar KIZILELMA has successfully completed the medium altitude system identification test. This was the third test of the aircraft. There will be many more tests to be conducted on the aircraft as part of development activities. The aircraft is planed to enter into mass production at the beginning of 2024.
