After months of local protest and international pressure against the Dominican Republic Constitutional Court’s ruling, lawmakers passed a new law which will set a system to grant naturalization to Dominican-born children of immigrants -- including a significant number of immigrants or Haitian descents. Still, many think that this regularization plan will only resolve the problem for a limited number with documents, since many others are living in the country without documentation.
