A JetBlue flight from New York to Puerto Rico bumped into another plane in the gate area at JFK Airport on Wednesday.
A JetBlue spokesperson said no injuries were reported and the plane returned to the gate.
Both planes will now go out of service for inspection.
The FAA confirmed the JetBlue plane struck the other aircraft's tail. The agency adding it would investigate the incident.
The is the second time in a matter of days that two planes experienced an unusual incident at JFK Airport.
Last Friday, two planes nearly collided when a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737 stopped its takeoff as an American Airlines flight crossed the runway.
