The number of Christians killed worldwide because of their faith has doubled year-on-year. In 2013, there were reportedly over 2,000 'martyr' killings globally, with the majority taking place in Syria. The report, from a group supporting persecuted Christians called Open Doors, is based on confirmed killings reported in the media, so the real number may be far higher.
