In July, park visitors started noticing one very tall bloom in Kendrick Lake Park’s xeriscape demonstration gardens. The Parry’s agave (Agave parryi), also known as a century plant, lives for 10 to 30 years before flowering, after which the plant dies – but not before making “pups” or offshoots that replace the parent plant.
Visit the park at 9351 W. Jewell Ave. soon to see it for yourself! The plant is expected to bloom into early August.
