Mastodon's Bill Kelliher: What Got Me to Join ESP Guitars After Leaving Gibson:

"Once I left Gibson I was supported by ESP. The selling point for me with those guys-- The first question was, 'Can I design my own guitar?' Because I always wanted to. And Gibson, they're such a huge... They were such a huge company. They don't question the design of guitars, they already got all the cool designs.

"So they [ESP] were like, 'Yeah, of course you can, you can design whatever you want.' It's hard to come up with a super-original design because there's so many, but for me in particular, I had an idea of a Firebird meets an RD meets a Jagstang."
