One of the most popular tourist sites of the beautiful Prague is undoubtedly Charles Bridge. The construction of this unique monument of medieval architecture began in 1357, it was then that Emperor Charles IV himself laid the first stone at the site of the future bridge, which received its first name - Prague Bridge. The construction of this large-scale construction continued until the beginning of the 15th century.
In 1870, the bridge was renamed in honor of its founder Charles IV and since then it has been called the Charles Bridge to this day. Built across the Vltava River, the bridge is of great strategic importance, it connects two districts of Prague - the Old Town and Prague Castle. Its length is 520 meters, and its width is 9.5 meters.
