Now THAT was fun to play. Razorenov (1909-1991) was a russian composer who graduated 1939 from the Moscow Conservatoie, where he studied with Myaskovsky. Held various teaching and editorial positions including with Muzyka (1949-73) and Sovetskiy Kompozitor. He wrote a lot of interesting piano pieces (Sonata, Ballade, Concert Etudes, Siberian Rhapsody, Preludes etc.) which are probably all worth to explore. The score is easy to find on pianophilia for example. My favorite moment is actually the part where we completely break out off any harmonic pattern we know from the melody in a rather atonal way. It sounds so brutal and raw, I love it. Also the contrast to the harmonies from the original is good, however very pesante in FFF. It's a very good composition in my opinion.
