The Good: Powerful, clean, balanced sound with good imaging
The Bad: A bit dry in the upper midrange.
Verdict: A good match of you're on a strict electronics budget.
Willsenton R300i ($1500 USD)
The Good: A warm, relaxing, tonally rich sounding combination
The Bad: Not very dynamic, energetic, or powerful sounding.
Overall: Only a good match in small rooms and/or for people who like a very warm sound.
Hegel H120 ($3200 USD)
The Good: Extremely balanced and well-rounded sounding combination. Doesn't do much wrong.
The Bad: Some people may prefer a more 'vivid' sound.
Overall: Exceptional match for something in this price range. Highly Recommended!
Galion TS120 ($4500 USD)
The Good: Lively, detailed, strong, tonally rich sounding presentation.
The Bad: Not the last word in speed and refinement.
Overall: A Great match, especially if you like the sound of tube amps.
Luxman 550 MK ($6500 USD)
The Good: Detailed, Clean, Controlled, Highly Resolving and Full Sounding presentation.
The Bad: Can sound rather forward in the upper midrange. Not for somebody who likes warmth.
Overall: A very solid match if you like a clean, slightly forward, and controlled sound.
Accuphase E280 ($6500 USD???). Price has changed
The Good: Balanced, clean, slightly warm, tonally pleasant combination.
The Bad: Not for people who prefer a lean and quick sound.
Overall: A good match all-around match, especially if you like a full sounding midrange.
Hegel H390 ($6500 USD)
The Good: Excellent bass control with a slightly warm sound.
The Bad: Midrange sounds almost broken/unnatural. Not sure why.
Overall: Based on what I heard, I cannot recommend this match to most people.
Octave Audio V70 Class A ($10,000 USD)
The Good: Extremely clean, dynamic, and layered sound. Fantastic Resolution.
The Bad: The price.
Overall: Highly Recommended if you have the money!
