Hooray! macOS Ventura has finally arrived and is ready for a test drive! But how do you avoid bugs, glitches, and other performance issues of the new operating system?
In this tutorial, you’ll learn what clean installation is and how to clean install macOS Ventura on your Mac.
What does clean Installation mean?
Clean Installation means wiping out your entire computer to install new software. Obviously, you don’t need to go to such an extreme if your Mac runs smoothly. But for used, sluggish, and cluttered Macs, it’s your way out of the rabbit hole!
So let’s start with macOS Ventura clean install. Simply follow the steps below.
Step 1. Clean the system junk
Before backing up your entire system to the removable disk, I suggest you clean all the system junk first. You don’t want all those old junk files on your freshly updated Mac. And the most no-sweat way to do it is to use the CleanMyMac X app.
Download CleanMyMac X for free & run System Junk scan:

Back up using Time Machine
Plug in the external drive.
Go to System Settings - General - Time Machine.
Pick your hard drive and set it up to be your backup disk. Your Mac will take care of the rest.
Alternatively, you can use iCloud storage to back up your data safely. Just follow these instructions:
Go to System Preferences - Apple ID - iCloud.
Check that iCloud is turned on.
Click Options, check the box next to the Desktop & Documents Folder and click Done.
Step 2. Download macOS Ventura Installer
Go to Mac App Store, type macOS Ventura in the search bar, and feel free to download (but don’t click “install now”).
Step 3. Create bootable installer
Find another removable disk or USB drive (with no less than 15GB storage capacity). Copy an installer onto this drive:
Open Terminal.
Copy this command into the Terminal app:
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura.pp/Contents/Resources/ createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
*but don’t forget to replace MyVolume with your USB name.
Type your password and press Enter.
For Apple Silicon Macs:
Open System Preferences, click System Preferences in the menu bar and then click Erase All Content and Settings. Enter your password and click Continue.
For Intel Macs:
Restart your Mac while holding the Option key. When you’ll see your bootable volumes appear, release the Option key. Select your drive and click Return. Then select your internal drive and click Erase. When the process is complete, select install macOS from the Utilities.
Good luck, and enjoy macOS Ventura! More handy Mac tutorials are on their way. Stay tuned!
