This workshop was delivered on July 31 2014
Number of children: 15
Age range: 14-16
Facilitator: Matt Lumb, Project Officer, Equity and Diversity Unit
The host organisation have enjoyed participating in the project and have decided to run three similar workshops:
- Students from a refugee experience from Waratah Technology High School
- Indigenous female group from Mt View, Cessnock, and Kurri High Schools
- Year 6 students from Medowie Public in mid-October
UNICEF Australia are interested in engaging with these workshops and appear keen to include these activities as part a national consultation with children and young people to find out what matters to them and what young people think needs to change in our country so every child can be happy, safe and reach their full potential. They (UA) will be taking the things Australian children say to the Committee on the Rights of the Child. In November, UA will be putting children’s opinions, concerns and ideas into a report which they will send to the Committee.
