Hey designers, have you ever wondered why you can't control all aspects of Free Transform in Adobe Photoshop? For example, why can't we control the direction of scale and rotation when Free Transforming a layer? Instead it always automatically rotates around the center point of the layer. However, in this video, we'll be discovering how you can use the reference point to control this direction - similar to an anchor point in After Effects!

✅ VIDEO SUMMARY
To find the reference point when Free Transforming in Adobe Photoshop, simply enable Free Transform (shortcuts above!) and then go to the top left-hand corner of the parameters and select the first checkbox. You can reposition the reference point by using the grid to the right of the checkbox, or by holding and dragging it with you cursor. Rotation automatically follows the new reference point, but to enable scale working with it too hold Option (or Alt for Windows) and it should work. You can also set Photoshop to automatically enable the reference point in Photoshop's preferences.
