Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Enhance Your Excel Data Analysis with Microsoft MapPoint | Tutorial and Tips.
Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast where we discuss all things Excel. I'm Bill Jelen and today's topic is all about mapping data. But before we dive into that, I want to extend an invitation to our viewers in England. We are planning a series of seminars in November and would love to hear your thoughts on the best cities to visit. Join the discussion at England.html and let's make this happen!
Now, let's talk about Microsoft Mappoint. This product is a great tool for visualizing geographic data in Excel. It uses a process called "Geocoding" to determine the latitude and longitude of your data and then plots it on a map. But one issue I have with Mappoint is the default black and white pushpin icons. They can be hard to see, so I recommend changing them to a more noticeable symbol, like a large red circle.
Mappoint also offers various map styles and the ability to zoom in and out, making it easy to customize your map. And the best part is, even if you don't have Mappoint, you can still view the embedded map in the Excel file as a jpeg. This is a great way to showcase geographic data, whether it's for business purposes or just for fun.
Speaking of business, Mappoint can be a valuable tool for analyzing customer data. By plotting your customer locations on a map, you can gain insights into where your customers are located and where you may need to focus your efforts. And here's a pro tip: if you're looking to purchase Mappoint, check out online auction sites like eBay. You can often find brand new, sealed copies for a fraction of the retail price.
So, if you're in England, join our discussion and let's make our November seminars a success. And for everyone else, consider using Mappoint to enhance your Excel data analysis. Thanks for tuning in to this netcast from MrExcel. See you next time!
